Consumer Price Index / Inflation August 2020

In general, the price developments for various commodities in August 2020 indicated an increase. In August 2020, there was inflation of 0.46 percent, or there was an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 104.24 in July 2020 to 104.72 in August 2020.

Inflation that occurred in Aceh (Combined 3 Cities) occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.77 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.04 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and household fuel group of 0.02 percent; the health group by 0.08 percent; the transportation group of 0.17 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.01 percent; and personal care and other services group of 2.93 percent. The expenditure group that experienced deflation, namely: the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by 0.11 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that did not change were the information, communication and financial services group; recreational, sports, and cultural groups; and education groups.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-August) 2020 is 1.82 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2020 against August 2019) is 1.58 percent.
