Abstract

The number of labor force in February 2020 was 2,510 thousand people, up 52 thousand people compared to February 2019. In line with the increase in the labor force, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 0.06 percent.

In the past year, the number of unemployed people has not decreased significantly. In February 2020, the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) fell 0.11 percentage point to 5.42 percent. Judging from the level of education, TPT for the university level is the highest among other education levels, which is 8.30 percent.

The number of employed people is 2,374 thousand, an increase of 52 thousand from February 2019. Employment has increased the percentage of the population working mainly in Health Services (0.76 percentage point), Provision of Food and Beverage Accommodations (0.60 percentage points), and Transportation and Warehousing (0.52 percentage points). While employment declined mainly in agriculture (3.35 percentage points); Financial Services and Insurance (0.30 percentage point); and Government Administration (0.06 percentage point).

A total of 1,334 thousand people (56.18 percent) work in informal activities. During the past year (February 2019-February 2020), informal workers fell by 1.51 percent.

The highest percentage in February 2020 was full workers (minimum working hours of 35 hours per week) of 63.25 percent. Whereas residents who work 1-7 hours have the smallest percentage, which is 1.67 percent. Meanwhile, incomplete workers are divided into two, namely part-time workers (26.73 percent) and half-unemployed workers (10.02 percent).
